Will my cat's personality ever return to normal?

i was reluctant to get my 8 m/o cat fixed about two months ago, for fear it would change his personality. he was the most loving, kind, affectionate cat in the world, and now that he's fixed, he won't let me touch him; he bites me if i try. he's a generally mean cat now. will his personality ever be the same or will i just have to deal with a pissy cat from now on??? :(
