Why does Victoria's Secret have outlandish shows?

I mean, I watch the Victoria's Secret fashion shows and see these amazing women in extravagant, super-y costumes and lingerie, chicks floating around with angel wings on, much of it looks y but doesn't appear very practical, etc. But when I look in the catalogue and visit their website, all I see are boring, ordinary clothing for everyday use, nothing like what they show in their hyped fashion shows! SO what is the reason for this? Do they just have these shows for attention? Can anyone even buy anything that appears in one of their fashion shows?
